Allure is a beauty-focused American women’s magazine distributed monthly by Condé Nast in New York City. Linda Wells started it in 1991. Michelle Lee took over for Wells in 2015. The magazine’s annual Best of Beauty awards—awards given in the October issue to beauty products considered the best by Allure’s staff—have become a trademark. S.I. Newhouse Jr., chairman of Condé Nast, and then-editorial director Alexander Liberman contacted Linda Wells in 1990 to develop a beauty magazine idea they had.
